I · ESPERA — the halt
Warm gold-leaf veins glow visibly beneath translucent skin, originating at the lapis pendant. A thin ring of liquid gold rims her hazel-green irises. Her right hand is raised palm-out in a halt gesture, fingers extended firmly — the air around her hand has a time-frozen quality with dust motes suspended. Espera means both to wait and to hope: the raised hand is not refusal but patience — a held breath that still believes something is on its way.
